Fabulous Firs

In 1984, our family purchased a tract of land in the town of Poughkeepsie - after seeing an advertisement in the Sunday New York Times – to start another Christmas tree farm. By our opening in 1991, we had some of the most beautiful Christmas trees we had ever grown! We wanted a name to separate the new tree farm from Bilmar Nurseries and Fabulous Firs was born.

Fabulous Firs offers these fine selections:

Fraser Fir
Concolor Fir
Canaan Fir
Colorado blue Spruce
Serbian Spruce
Norway spruce (We do not recommend cutting Norway spruce unless you plan
to only keep it up for a couple of weeks.)

We have weekend hay rides to and from the fields. There are many fields in different areas of the farm. You may drive your vehicle to the field of choice. Please park and walk into the fields.

Please note: Driving into or on the fields is not allowed at any time. No Chain Saws Please!

No need to worry about what to bring. We have for your use saws, tie twine, and baling - all at no charge.

We have fresh wreaths made at Bilmar and brought over regularly.

Don’t forget to visit our vintage 1943 New Haven Railroad Caboose. The New Haven Poughkeepsie line ran through this property. It is very possible that this old girl traveled through what would eventually be her final stop many times many years ago.

As always, we have an excellent supply of Fraser Fir up to 9’ tall with a lesser number of taller trees. Look for trees with yellow and black ribbons. These are trees with hardly any trimming. We feel that their natural shapes are just fine and they don’t need any enhanced trimming - leaving more room for ornaments!
